Jarome is a contemporary Irish artist living in Norfolk and specialising in using Multi medium art & painting techniques. His work is inspired by the beauty of the countryside of both Ireland, especially the west coast where he spent most of his childhood, and the Norfolk coast where he now lives. The sea influences his work with the ebb and flow of the tide resonating with the ebb and flow of childhood memories. In his works he combines various unexpended materials into his art, everything from acrylic to putty, resin and window sealant! The heavily textured pictures are often drawn from memories and experiences throughout his colourful life. From training as a Concert Pianist to Catholic Priest, running a human street circus and school’s theatre to professional acting and directing with some of the best companies in the world, his journey has always centred on expressive art. He describes his work as ‘the texture of memory on canvas’, The colours are not intended to be realistic in any way but rather shards of reflected experience through the prism of memory. Sometimes the prism intensives the colours and experience at others it obscures and leaves you wondering just what is going on in the painting.
